WE’LL WALK YOUR PATH TOGETHER.

I have lived with creativity my whole life, and have found it to be my best friend and worst enemy. But throughout my various careers and jobs, it was thinking creatively that saw me through the rough times, and helped my ideas take shape when things were going well.

I recently retired after 40 years of being a Board-Certified, Registered Art Therapist. I worked with children and adults who found talking about their problems to be not enough. As an expressive artist myself, I know the power of creating. Expressive arts is my passion, and helping people find their unique creative voice is what I offer through creativity coaching.

Recently I was talking to my brother, who is a very bright entrepreneur and inventor.

He felt stuck, couldn’t see where to go for his next career move. Out of the blue, I said to him, “I think I can help you. Would you like me to try?” and for the next couple of months, we talked on the phone, met in person, emailed, and he found the way forward. He launched his new website and felt success once again.

“You should do this” he told me. “What’s this?” I asked.

“I don’t know but you’re good at it, so you should offer it.”

So, I went online to discover what this was, and lo and behold, I found the Creativity Coaching Association, and their courses, and started my new path to become a creativity coach.

I have been in the world of Expressive Art Therapy for nearly 40 years, and have seen how difficult it can be for some people to find their creative footing, after years of thinking they’re not artistic or creative. Does that sound familiar?

I have helped hundreds of people learn to access their creative voice, and have witnessed their personal growth and self-understanding through creative expression. They experience a sense of wonder and excitement when they realize they can access their inner kindergartner again.

Frequently asked questions

  • My short answer is, it takes as long as it takes. My longer answer is, what matters is that you feel you are making progress and getting closer to your goals. So, whether we meet for 3 months or a year, we will monitor your sense of accomplishment and stop when that feels like the right thing to do.

  • I do not pretend to be able to fix anybody. However, with the right tools and a clearer sense of how to get from where you are today to where you would like to be, you will be the one to fix things.

  • You do not have to be an artist to work with me. I work with entrepreneurs, inventors, business people, as well as artists and creative professionals.

  • If you live near me, we can meet in person. But if you live far away, we can meet on Zoom, a user-friendly platform similar to Skype, where we can talk, see one another, share the screen, and more. And of course, we can also meet by phone.

  • I will send you a questionnaire which helps me get to know you before we meet. I also will send a client agreement form. Other than that, there is no need to prepare for the first session.

  • Yes, I work with writers, musicians, performance artists, dancers, poets, as well as visual artists. And I work with people who express themselves in other ways, such as through entrepreneurial ideas and those who lead retreats.

  • You will know when you are done by knowing what your goals were to begin with, and seeing how far you’ve come during our sessions. Once we agree that we are finished working together, I am always available for a session or two as needed..

Let’s set up a phone call or Zoom session. I like to meet with potential new clients to see if we are a good fit before committing to working together.

EXPERIENCE WITH KAT

  • "I had the privilege and honor to work with the amazing Kat Kirby. She was gracious enough to help me get to the bottom of my shiny object syndrome. I am learning to go deeper with my interests instead of being “all over the place.” She was just as she seems here, friendly, professional and masterfully creative."

    Bobbie A.

  • "I highly suggest using her if you need to be coached in any area of creativity. I committed to taking one oil painting lesson per week and writing Artist mentorship curriculum to be used with homeless and abused children for six months. I am taking action, putting in the time, and feel a sense of accomplishment. I am grateful for Kat’s much needed guidance."

    Susan M.
