Imagine yourself in Taos, New Mexico, where the wide desert sky embraces the sacred mountains and light pours across the land like a blessing. Here, in this place of stillness and beauty, we will gather at the magical Mabel Dodge Luhan House for a SoulCollage® retreat. Using the 5 senses, this retreat blends creativity, reflection, and community. Through collage and journaling, we’ll create SoulCollage cards that hold your stories, symbols, and spirit.
Deborah Milosevich and Kat Kirby invite you to slow down, tune into your 5 senses, and let the land, the light, and the magic of Taos, guide this creative journey.
Through SoulCollage and journaling, we'll explore the five senses: sight, sound, touch, scent, and taste, and use them as portals into intuition, imagination, and self-discovery. Come make some oracle cards and build your SoulCollage deck, while observing and gathering sensory experiences to include in your handmade journal.
We will begin our retreat by gathering in the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the Mabel Dodge Luhan House for an evening of connection. This is your invitation to relax, unwind, and meet the kindred spirits who will share this journey with you.
SoulCollage is a magical and often profound process of creating a unique and personal deck of oracle cards, developed by the late Seena Frost. With this process, using our intuition, imagination, and images, we create cards that reflect a part of our Selves, and gradually build our SoulCollage deck. This becomes our personal story, describing in images who we are, the roles we play, our supporters and challengers, and the archetypes that guide us.
We welcome new SoulCollagers too. If you're new to SoulCollage, you can begin creating your deck at this retreat.
We’ll gather in our wonderful spacious adobe studio every day for creative sessions and an in- depth exploration of your personal soul journey.
In the mornings and afternoons, we’ll spend time in community, creating a handmade journal, using words and images that appeal to your senses. Kat will guide you through the process of using just one sheet of watercolor paper to make a book with space for your writings, dreams, insights, poems, and collages. This will become your unique Treasure Book, a memory book about the retreat, to reflect on and re-visit from time to time, remembering the synchronicities and surprises that you found. And a record of what our senses discovered during our retreat.
We will build our SoulCollage decks, one image at a time, one card at a time, sharing our stories with one another. Evenings can be spent wandering into town, reading, creating in the studio, or relaxing in front of the fireplace at the main house.
During our retreat, you’ll have the option to walk the labyrinth, either on your own or with a group guided by Kat.
A labyrinth isn’t a maze—it has one clear path that gently leads you to the center and back out again. People have walked labyrinths for centuries as a way to slow down, reflect, and find a sense of calm.
We’ll offer both guided walks and quiet solo time, so you can move at your own pace. Take a breath, follow the path, and enjoy a moment of stillness and clarity.
Once you arrive at the Mabel Dodge Luhan House, you are invited to slow down and take a deep breath. You may feel travel-worn, your edges frayed—this is your moment to unwind. Settle into your cozy, welcoming room, where crisp linens and quiet serenity await.
Perhaps a soothing shower, a restful nap, or simply the luxury of stillness will help you shed the challenges of your journey, and step into retreat mode.

Kat Kirby
Prescott, AZ
I grew up in New Jersey, surrounded by a family that believed in the power of art and music. From an early age, I learned that creativity and self-expression aren’t just hobbies—they're essential ingredients for a joyful, meaningful life.
I work from a bright, welcoming studio that looks out over peaceful high desert views. It’s here that I host workshops in collage, art journaling, altered books, mixed media, and more—playful, soulful gatherings where creativity flows freely. I also lead inspiring creativity retreats in some of the most beautiful corners of the world—Portugal, France, the Caribbean, and Taos, just to name a few.
As a retired Board Certified, Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC), I spent over 40 years helping others find healing and meaning through the arts. I’ve taught and mentored in Prescott College’s MA in Counseling Psychology program, and I continue to offer creative workshops through Yavapai College’s Community Education program. I'm also a SoulCollage Facilitator, and I love sharing this intuitive collage process that taps into deep personal insight and transformation.
Creativity is a path, a practice, and a portal—and I’m here to walk it with you.
When I teach, whether it be virtual or in person, my two rules are:
1) You can’t be wrong, and
2) Have fun!
