Spend a delightful four days at Spirit in the Desert, in beautiful Carefree.
This retreat is designed for you to explore your Self, using images, imagination, and intuition via the process of SoulCollage. And if you’ve never done SoulCollage, this will be a wonderful introduction for you!
And not just SoulCollage! Calling all collage lovers. We will be using some fun collage techniques to add interest and embellishment to our hand made journals.
You will be guided to create a simple hand-made journal with pockets for your SoulCollage cards and pages to write whatever wants to be expressed. Your journal can also be filled with doodles, collages, poems, and more. This is time for YOU to be creative in whatever ways you choose!
Optional daily labyrinth walks will enhance your observation skills and inspire you to take in the beauty of nature as you walk your spiral path to self-understanding.
Join me at Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center, to awaken your senses, ignite your imagination, and connect with like-hearted women.
Our “open studio” is there for you all day and night, to explore creative materials in a safe and inspiring space.
This retreat is designed to invigorate your artistic senses and help you find new ways to relax and renew. You will feel welcomed and encouraged to explore your creative side. Your imagination and sleeping “inner artist” will awake and delight you. And you will be given tools to continue your exploration of the arts when you return home.

In addition to being fun, art making can be healing, informative, insightful, encouraging, and especially in community with like-hearted folks.
We will dive right in and make a card the first evening. Then we’ll create our handmade journal to keep our cards safe as well as write about the newly made cards and what they have to say.
Also, other collage techniques will be demonstrated for you to use on the covers or pages of your journal.
During the retreat we will have time to relax, enjoy the beautiful desert weather, wander into the magical town of Carefree, and get some much deserved rest.
Meals are included in the price, and are lovingly prepared by the onsite chef, who clearly enjoys sharing his food with the groups that are on retreats there.

Kat Kirby

Kat Kirby was born and raised in New Jersey, into a family that valued art, music, theater, and all things creative. She learned at an early age that creativity and self-expression were keys to a fulfilling life.
Since the early 1970s, Kat has been a believer in the healing power of the arts and creative self-expression. Her passion for SoulCollage® began in 2006 when she was trained by the founder of this amazing process, Seena Frost. After retiring from a 40-year career as an Expressive Arts Therapist, she now teaches a variety of workshops such as creating art journals, SoulCollage®, handmade books, Mixed Media arts, watercolors and doodles, and more. She has led art retreats around the world, including France, Portugal, the Caribbean, as well as Sedona, Carefree, AZ, and California. Kat enjoys exploring and experimenting with art materials, and loves encouraging her students and retreatants to make friends with their inner kindergartener.
When she teaches, whether it be virtual or in person, her two rules are:
1) You can’t be wrong, and
2) Have fun!
Cancellations and Refunds:
If you need to cancel your registration for any reason, please let Kat know as soon as possible by sending her an email to kat4clay@gmail.com.
If you or I can fill your spot, I will refund your payment, minus the $350 nonrefundable deposit. If we are unable to fill your space, I will not be able to issue you a refund.
If the retreat has to be cancelled for reasons outside of our control, you will receive a full refund.
2KatStudios is not responsible for your expenses incurred in preparation for any cancelled retreat, such as airline tickets, loss of work, and/or other costs associated with preparing for your trip. For this reason, I highly recommend travel cancellation insurance.

The balance of $825.00 is due by January 7th and there is no fee if you pay via check or Zelle.

Registration starts at 3pm on Monday, February 19th, and we will have a little get together before dinner, then dinner, then a studio tour. We finish on Thursday, February 22nd after lunch, around 1pm.
